Box Wine Review: Big Green Box Pinot Noir

by emily

My father-in-law and Big Green Box Pinot Noir.  I forget the price and I can’t find it online.  I think Moe said it was $15.99 or something like that.  He got it at BJ’s Wholesale Club.

Before I get into this review, I want to share with you a one-man brainstorming session that happened last Friday in which Billy told me all his ideas for titles for my box wine reviews.  I shall post it below.

box of sunshine
smile box reviews
by the boxfull
grab life by the box
put this in your box and drink it
box like a butterfly, drink like a wine (“That’s a complex one cause it’s a quote from a boxer.”)
looks like a box, tastes like a sneaker (ed. note: ???)
this box is for you
it’s my wine in a box
looks like a pump, feels like a sneaker? (ed. note: again. ???)
1) first you open the box 2) then you drink the box
a box on your house
astronaut wine
future sauce
science juice
box fine
box win, e
soap box, wine

Sigh.  I bet he would have kept going if I hadn’t said “I have never been more annoyed than I am right now.”

I think I’m going to stick with “Box Wine Review: Whatever Wine” for now, but I thought you might enjoy that.

Anyway, so!  Big Green Box Pinot Noir.  It was fine!  It was drinkable.  It’s a pinot noir and I’m beginning to realize that my palate tends to gravitate more towards wetter wines than your average pinot.  Not too sweet, just a little less dry.  I like an off-dry reisling or a big cab when I’m feeling fancy.  So this probably has to do with my own taste, but I only thought it was okay.  Drinkable?  For sure.  But I probably wouldn’t put away more than a glass and a half of this bad boy.  But if you like dry reds, get yourself a BJ’s membership and pick some of this up!
