Fiona, You So Crazy
by emily
This is Fiona Apple’s latest single “Every Single Night” off her new album called The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Drive of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do (of course that’s the name of the album). Things that I love about all this aside from even just that the song is wonderful, is imagining the exchanges between Fiona and the director of this video.
Director: Grab that octopus.
Fiona: This one?
Director: Yeah, put it on your head.
Fiona: Yeah?
Director: Yup.
Fiona: You got it.
…
Director: Like really yell at the alligator.
Fiona: I think it’s a crocodile.
Director: I never knew the difference actually.
Fiona: It has to do with the teeth.
Director: Huh. Well, either way just really scream at it. You’re mad at the alligator.
Fiona: Crocodile.
Director: Either way.
…
Director: Yeah facedown.
Fiona: In the dirt?
Director: Yeah the dirt over there with the snails.
Fiona: Facedown?
Director: Yup.
Fiona: Okay… Do you want me to work with the snails at all?
Director: Great idea. Sing to one.
Fiona: Sounds great.
Aaaanyway. This album is great and you should get it and listen to it a total of three times before you make a decision about whether it’s great or not. The first time you listen to it you’ll be like “Ugh, this is too much.” The second time you’ll be like “I have a headache and it’s too sunny to be listening to this shit.” The third time you’ll be crying with joy. If you’re anything like me, that’s how it’ll go down.
Yeah I am really enjoying this album after a couple listens. Good job Fiona!
OK. made a big mistake. I should never watch the video before first listening to the song. Actually, I should never watch the videos. They always disappoint me. Like reading the book then seeing the movie. The song is nice but it looks like Fiona was trippin’. How else do we explain this? I guess I like to make up my own visuals when I hear a song. Thanks for sharing, Emmy Kaye!
Actually, being covered in snails was her idea. Believe it or not she actually sometimes puts them on her arm to help her calm down and relax.
