Friday Jams
by emily
Since it’s Friday and nobody wants to do anything, I’m going to take this opportunity to laze out (LAZE out, like be lazy, not lez out. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, and who knows, another place, another time? WHO IS TO SAY?! But not today. Also probably not ever. Maybe Beyonce. If she was into it. God, this post took a weird turn right off the bat, huh?) and just post some sweet ass Friday Jams.
My favorite Friday Jams are the ones that last through the ages. These are all fairly recent but they are destined to be classics, I swear.
Brit’s covered in diamonds! Back before she was quite so dead behind the eyes, poor thing.
I don’t know WHAT is going on in this video, but the song is just perfection.
This song is so good it played twice at my wedding.
NSFW if your work doesn’t like PERFECT MUSIC. Or the f word. The greatest thing about this song is that it calms my road rage. I can do nothing but smile and sing at the top of my lungs when this song comes on.
Speaking of Beyonce, this is mesmerizing and I will love it forever.
SPECIAL BONUS: Have you seen this amazing nonsense?!
My little sister knows all the words to this song. I’m jealous.
Anyway, there you go! Stop doing work, it’s all over. Time to shop online and go get a coffee and before you know it it’ll be time to go home and watch the Olympics!
What are your Friday Jams? Don’t say raspberry. THAT’S NOT THE KIND OF JAM I’M TALKING ABOUT!
I’ve had Some Nights on all week and Friday is no exception. In response to Ilana’s post about needing a song for her Uke I listened to Julia Nunes’ “Stairwell” (and will probably continue with the rest of the album). I’ve been singing along to Gym Class Hero’s “Fighter” because the Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity is opening this weekend at C1… and that’s where it’s at, yo. Thanks Emily!
Agree re. Fuck You/road rage. I think it might be worth pointing out that I thought “NSFW” stood for “now so fucking what” (if your work doesn’t like perfect music). I also used the f word at my kindegarten teacher, so.
It’s hard to think of good Friday jams here at the train station cafe in Providence where the chuckleheads behind the counter just put on Joni Mitchell SO LOUD! Which is about as far from Friday jams as cats are from water polo.
I love the phrase ‘chucklehead’. I am now gonna use that all the time / thanks!
