I come from a long line of Negative Nancies and to combat my genetic inclination to be grumpy and fart-facey, I find it beneficial for me to make a real effort, on a daily basis, to find the positive in things.  This isn’t always easy, but it improves my mood and makes me less horrible to be around, so I feel like it’s worth the effort.  Here are some examples of ways I have found, today, to flip a negative into a positive.

1.  Reality: I found multiple animal hairs of unknown origin in my belly button in the shower this morning.
Positive Interpretation: Aren’t I lucky to have two animals that enjoy my company so much that they are always sitting within a three foot radius of me?  Yes, I am lucky.  They are soft and nice and sometimes I can hug them.

2.  Reality: I have three auditions this week, requiring me to memorize lots of nonsense lines and I probably won’t even get cast and all this memorizing will have been for naught.
Positive Interpretation: I will probably get Alzheimer’s a lot slower with all this memorization keeping my brain so active and elastic!

3.  Reality: It’s really hot out.
Positive Interpretation: I can drink tons of white wine full of ice cubes without embarrassment!

Etc, you get the idea.  Do you guys ever do this?  It’s fun!
